A Message from our Head Coach

Hello and welcome to the Tri-Town Hockey Family.  We are very excited, as everyone involved of where the program is and where we are heading.  For me it’s not a privilege, but an honor to be the Head Coach of Tri-Town Hockey. We have great kids in this program that all have a drive to succeed, but it doesn’t just stop with them, the parents, the alumni,  booster club, and the coaching staff are all involved for the same goal- to see the program SUCCEED.  With that being said one of our biggest goals as a coaching staff is to continue the Winning tradition here. So please sit back and enjoy the great hockey you’re going to get this year.

First let me introduce myself, my name is Paul Dowe and I have the lucky job of being the head coach of the Tri-Town Hockey Team.  Prior to coaching Tri-Town Hockey I was a member of the Plattsburgh State Men’s Hockey Team for four years from 1998-2002. During that time at Plattsburgh we went to the Frozen Four all four years and we won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2001.

This is my seventh year as the Head Coach of Tri-Town Hockey and eight year overall with the program.  Together with players and coaches we have worked hard to develop games plans and design practices that would set us up for success and we truly think we have done that with a record over the last 5 years of 90-41 (69%). Over the last six seasons we are very proud to have had 15 All-Conference Players and 6 All-State Players and many “Mind’s in Motion” (consistent honor roll students) certificate recipients.  We are very proud of the previous teams that we have coached are very anxious to see what kind of team we are going to have this season.

I have 3 rules that I live by here at Tri-Town-

1- Discipline- I do not tolerate players not treating each other, officials, coaches or other teams with respect and dignity at all times.  In life discipline is one of those things we all learn in different forms we do our best here to teach you that when put in a tough situation you have the ability and know how to make a smart decision.

2-Hard Work- I am a big believer that working hard and hard work are two very different things. Anyone can say that they are working hard but actually being told that someone is a Hard working means that person always gives their all.  That is what I try and instill in all my players because being labeled a hard worker will take you places in life.

3-Integrity- I am big on integrity period.  It particularly means so much to me in the great sport of hockey because of the huge history of the sport.  Each and every player should respect the game, respect the history, and respect the opportunity of being able to step out on the ice and play this great game.

From a coaching standpoint my coaching staff brings “state of the art” practice drills and a learning atmosphere, but most of all we bring a huge love for the game and we only hope that these young men are able to feed off of that.  As far as the coaching staff is concerned, I feel I have put together one of the most dedicated and professional coaching staffs in High School Hockey.  My Varsity Assistant Coaches include Head Assistant Coach Kevin O’Leary and Coach Paul Barstis. Kevin O’Leary last year was the Head Coach at Xavier High School.  He lead the team for five years and has been inside the walls at Yale in the Division II Final Four.  He decided to leave Xavier for personal reasons and join our staff here at Tri-Town.  He will be counted on to help led this team to a successful, fun season. Paul Barstis has been with our program in the past helping out in various roles between Varsity and JV.  Last year Paul was not with us as he was serving our country overseas but is back this year to help the young men in our program. I also have a volunteer assistant Nick Glomb who has been with me for the last six years helping out every year in some capacity.  Nick brings a huge love for the game, for the program, and for all the players and coaches.  Nick gives some of the best pre-game speeches around and we are pleased that we get to hear those again this year.  My Junior Varsity coach is Shaun Burke.  Coach Burke returns for his second season with Tri-Town as last year he was brought on as a Goalie Coach.   This year he will serve as both the JV Coach and the Goalie Coach and will be counted one to lead his JV team to a fun season.  He has been a huge addition to our staff and we are pleased to give him additional roles this year.

Fortunately, all of the coaches I have either known or coached with for many years, we have both a good working relationships and friendships.  Each one of them has the same philosophy as I do.  Our main goal is to really help these kids enjoy everything about the game of hockey from coming to the rink for practice to getting ready for a big game.  We hope that the lessons we teach here they can take with them into their adulthood. We wish everyone safe travels to and from the game.

Regards-

Coach Paul Dowe
